Air Show Dress Requirements

Field Training Uniform (FTU)

This post is being sent out to ensure ALL cadets who signed up to assist with 386 Squadron at the Air Show this coming Saturday are dressed in the appropriate and approved clothing for this event.  There are cadets that are being bussed to Comox for this event, and all of them will also be in the FTU uniform (green one).  RCSU(P) is the approving authority for dress for the cadets that are participating in this event.  Ensuring that you are wearing it correctly, clean clothing, boots blackened, and your beret on.
What this means – you arrive in your uniform, you participate in the activity you signed up for in your uniform, and you go home in your uniform.  There is absolutely NO changing in and out of civilian clothing while at this activity.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY:  We have been given the opportunity to do one last fundraiser for this season!  The air show has offered collection and sorting of bottles/cans to the Comox Valley Cadets (Air, Army & Sea).  We need cadets and families to help!!!

We anticipate a greater need for helping hands in the afternoon, please make yourself available to help for a portion of the day, 9-5pm Saturday May 18th.  No work will happen during the air displays as we will all have our eyes in the skies!

Please email the SSC at [email protected] if you can help.  It doesn’t have to be for the whole day.  Whatever time you can give, will be most appreciated. All parents who have signed up to help, if you could please see me, Shauna Duncan, at the Curling Club on Tuesday May 14 for further details and instruction regarding duties for that day.

***Please note that there will be NO PARKING available at our local headquarters/888 parking lot for the entire day.  This area is going to be reserved for 888 Wing members only.  Please refer to the Air Show website https://comoxairshow.com/ for public parking and traffic information.

Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR)

The Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) is what we have been working towards all year.  This is your time to show off the countless hours of working on your uniform, practicing drill, self-discipline, and leadership.  We highly encourage you to attend so your guests can see what a great cadet you have become.

WHEN: Saturday June 1, 2024
TIMINGS: Very strict as we have to move into the restricted area with a guide.
Cadet Drop off: 0945hrs
Guests to arrive: 1315hrs (1:15)
WHERE: 19 Wing Comox Officers Mess (on the base)
DRESS: Arrive in Civilian Clothes
Bring your entire blue uniform in a bag for its protection and to keep everything together!

This year the parade will be in the restricted area on the Wing in the Wash hangar. It is extremely important that we respect the arrival times and register guests in the sign-up. If your guest is not listed on the sign-up (closes May 22), they WILL NOT be permitted to attend as we need to submit the list in advance to 19 Wing.

Guests who arrive late will also NOT be permitted to attend.  So please arrive on time.

Welcome New Recruits!

Please find below some important information to keep you informed during the year. Please remember to refresh the page when looking for information that may have arrived since the last time you visited . . .

We try to keep everyone informed on things happening at the squadron through the webpage. Many things happen outside of the regular parade nights so it is important to check back if you think there is something that you or your cadet may have missed.

Please keep in mind that all cadet adult staff also work full-time jobs and, as such, phone calls and emails may not be answered right away. The Squadron is only open for office paperwork on Tuesdays during parade time unless other arrangements have been made.

  • Announcements are made at our closing parade on Tuesday nights. It is important that cadets pay attention during this time as this is when they will get the heads up on upcoming events.
  • We understand that by this time of night, some cadets may not be able to retain what they are hearing or may not be able to hear the speaker. That is why we try to keep everything up to date on the web page.
  • Please also understand that accidents happen; typos, and misinformation, and that timings may change due to poor weather or circumstances beyond our control.
  • If there is an activity coming up, there will usually be a sign-up link that will take you to our Cognito Forms page. Please follow the instructions on the form so that the staff has the contact info they need in case of any changes during the activity.

Please read this letter, put together by our National Leaders for the parents/guardians of cadets. Letter to Parents
