Commanding Officer’s Welcome

If you are a first-time cadet or cadet family, welcome! On behalf of the cadets and staff of 386 Squadron, we look forward to getting to know you over the months and years ahead. The Air Cadet Program is a premiere youth training program and will open many doors that wouldn’t otherwise be open. I trust you will find your experience most challenging, rewarding, enjoyable and fun. This handout is intended to provide you basic information on how the squadron operates, how we are funded, how you train, dress, get promoted, etc. Please read it and refer to it often as it contains a wealth of information.

If you are a returning cadet, welcome back. Hopefully you have made the most of your summer whether that was here in the Comox Valley or if you had the chance to attend a Cadet Training Centre. Either way, we’ll be counting on you to bring your enthusiasm, knowledge and skills developed from last year and over the summer to the squadron. We are a leadership organization and the way you progress and achieve new opportunities is to put your best effort forward at every opportunity.

Whether you are new or returning, I want to emphasize the importance we place on operating in a respectful, safe, challenging, rewarding and fun manner. You will all hear me speak about expectations and ethics and I expect your support in regard to each aspect. Our collective achievement and success hinges on us all doing our part to make the squadron something we are proud to be members of.

On behalf of the staff and cadets of the squadron I am proud to welcome you to the 386 Komox Squadron family! I wish you a challenging and rewarding cadet experience!
