Cadet Resources
Uniform Regulations
All articles of uniform are loaned to the cadet by the Canadian Armed Forces at no cost to the cadet or his/her parent/guardian. It may take two to four weeks before a recruit is issued a uniform. The approximate cost of a complete cadet uniform is $520.00. Cadets and their parents/guardians are responsible for all items on loan, throughout the cadet’s membership. Please ensure that items are not lost. Outgrown or lost clothing will be replaced through the Squadron Supply Officer. Loss or abuse of kit is not acceptable.
Cadets will be provided formal instruction on the care and maintenance of the uniform early in their training. Encouragement and minimal assistance at the beginning by parents is useful. Consider the following points:
- Encourage regular laundering of the uniform; uniform shirt and pants particularly as these items see the most frequent wear
- Encourage proper hanging and storage of uniform items as it makes them easier to maintain and reduces lost items in the potential clutter of a bedroom!
- Make an iron and ironing board available and assist in the first instance with setup, temperature selection for safety and to prevent scorching of fabric
- Assist in obtaining a can of Kiwi polish, a polishing cloth and old toothbrush for boot polishing
